I had a wonderful time In Mumbai. I will always remember the wonderful people I met their and their friendship. Most locals their cant afford computers more-less the Internet so I won't be able to communicate with them. So our friendship can only be a memory. And I thank them for that.

Bamboo is the number one choice for scaffolding in the high rise construction here. I wonder if those are OSHA approved knots in the twine, holding the scaffolds in place?

Yesterday Was election day. All month long their where parades and signs going down the streets displaying their candidates. Many colorful looking vehicles and horse drawn coaches.

Here is a small town that locals come to shop for hand made leather hand bags, coats, belts and other leather Items. The larger stores come here and purchase there items to sell them at a marked up price. All the leather items are made right here in town.

They have many large mosk and a Hindu temples around town. Where they go to worship and pray, and perform marriages.

This is a salt farm. The white stuff you see is salt that came from the ocean. The picture above is a town we went to today, we delivered rice to people in the slum areas. It was a good day.

The people from India are very friendly. Here are locals that I work with and their family. They love having us come by for a visit.

There are many Hindu Temples in Mumbai. Usually around parks or places where people gather. There they can park their cow then stand in line to give homage. After they're done they ring one of the many bells.

Vendors push their carts around selling their packages of many bright colors of dye. They mix the dye with water and load it into their water guns or whatever they can use to paint their friends or innocent bystanders. The kids have fun painting themselves and everyone around them.

March 11th is holy day in India. Family and friends get together and celebrate with spraying each other with water and various colors of dye. Don't get to close! Everyone is having a good time.

In the city of Mumbai is a park called the Kanheri Caves. The Buddist monks carved temples and living quarters in the rocks. The name Kanheri is originated from the Sanskrit word Krishnagiri. Krishna stands for black mountain

All over town the streets have these slum shanties. The shanties are their place of business. They sell everything from food to articles for your home. At night it is also their home.

Here is a picture of my happy rickshaw driver. He seemed to like his picture taken, or it may have been the ten rupee tip I gave him. Its not very hard to catch one. There are millions of these things all over town.

Parks

In Mumbai they have many large parks in the middle of the street roundabouts. Lots of trees and shrubs. The parks are always very busy. Very crowded in the evenings and weekends

India still makes some of the finest Persian rugs in the world. These wool cashmere rugs are handmade and are expensive but a silk rug can have over 900 stitches per square inch and can take a full year to handcraft. Each rug has its own name.

Another day at the beach in Mumbai. The palm trees separate the high-end hotels from the beach. The Marriott hotel sits about a mile down the beach. It looks like palace. Very nice hotels on this beach. This is the only place so far that I have seen any kind of waves breaking in the beach. Its a popular hang out with the locals. It is close to Bollywood shopping and cinemas.

I have had so many comments of Mumbai's laundrymat that I decided to put more pictures on the blog. It is a very large place. I could not get the whole place in one or two shots. I don't think I even got all of it in the three pictures. There is a lot of laundry being done down there.

The fishermen get their nets ready for the next days catch. In north Mumbai the fishermen put their fish that they caught on the sidewalks to dry out for three days. On the third day the fish smell gets pretty strong. They also dry out there towels on the beach.

It is very different to see cows in the streets of such a big city. Sometimes you will see them tied up, so I think people own them but let them loose to go feed on the city. They don't seem to be intimidated by all the people and traffic in the streets. I saw five cows just within a few blocks of my apartment the other day.

Anyone for beach vollyball?? Oh yes the net area is a vollyball court. Look close, there is a vollyball net in their. Also the fishermen are drying their towels on the beach.

Like I said before, the local kids like to play cricket in the streets on the weekend. Sometimes they have to stop for local traffic. And sometimes shovel the ox doodoo off their 'street court'. This guy lives in my area and parks his cart and oxes in the parking lot.
